ステートメント
流動する相関：水と人間の不可逆性
私は幼少期から、落合川の水面を見つめ続けてきた。手を伸ばせば触れられるにもかかわらず、決して掴むことのできない水の存在は、「存在しているのに届かない」という感覚として、現在の制作の根底にある。
私は長年、水と密接に関わる環境の中で生きてきた。
光学ガラスの研磨に携わる中で、水は単なる補助材ではなく、レンズの最終的な透明性や質感を決定づける存在であった。
また、潜水の現場では、水が生命を支える一方で、容易に危険へ転化する境界でもあることを学んだ。
こうした経験を通して、水は私にとって単なる自然現象ではなく、物質、記憶、身体感覚、そして人間関係の不安定性を象徴する存在となった。
「水を守るのも人、汚すのも人」である。
私はこの循環を、環境問題としてだけでなく、人間同士の関係性にも重ね合わせている。
人は他者と関わることで傷つき、また変化し続ける。
「人と人との相互」作用の中で、
個人のIdentityは固定されたものではなく、常に揺らぎ続ける。
私がポートレートにおいて身体や傷痕へ注目するのは、他者という存在を通してしか自己を認識できないと考えているからである。
現在は、流動的で固定できない感覚や記憶を、物質として留める試みを行っている。
そのために用いている主素材が、FRP（繊維強化プラスチック）である。
FRPは、かつてモータースポーツにおいて自らの安全を支えていた素材であり、高い強度と耐久性を持つ一方、加工過程において予測不能な歪みや層を生み出す。
私は4×5フィルムで撮影したイメージを和紙へ出力し、熱加工によって変形・融解させ、FRP内部へ定着させている。
その過程で生まれる制御不能な変化や歪みを排除せず、作品の一部として受け入れている。
私の作品は、単に「見る」ための写真ではない。
鑑賞者が触れ、光にかざし、身体感覚を通して経験することで、像は固定されたイメージから変化し続ける存在へと移行する。
水が循環しながら形を変え続けるように、人間もまた、他者との関係性の中で変化し続ける。
私の実践は、水という流動的かつ不可逆な存在を通して、人間の知覚、記憶、そして関係性の痕跡を問い直す試みである。
Fluid Correlations: Water and Human Irreversibility
My artistic practice is rooted in my childhood observation of the Ochiai River—the fluid, irreversible reality of water that exists yet evades our grasp.
Drawing from my background as an optical glass polisher, where water determines ultimate transparency, and as a commercial diver, where water defines the boundary between life and death, I view water as a profound metaphor for the instability of substance, memory, and human relationality.
"Humans protect water, yet humans pollute it." This cyclical paradox reflects the dual nature of human connections. In portraiture, I focus on physical forms and surgical scars, treating the other as a mirror to examine the fluidity of identity within our social network.
To stabilize these fluid memories into a physical substance, I employ FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic)—a material that once guarded my life in motorsports. I output 4x5 large-format film images onto Japanese washi paper, melt them through thermal processing, and embed them within FRP, embracing uncontrollable distortion as an essential element.
These works transcend visual consumption; they require tactile experience. By touching them and holding them to the light, the viewer transforms a fixed image into a dynamic presence. My practice utilizes the irreversible nature of water to challenge human perception, memory, and the lasting traces of our connections.

私は元レーシングドライバーであり、潜水士でもあります。 0.001秒の判断と、水中の静寂という両極の体験は、 私に「時間の流れ」と「静止」の本当の意味を問い続けてきました。 現在は30年光学ガラスの製造に携わりながら、 「水と人の相互作用」をテーマに写真作品を制作しています。
